[07:22:56] <Devu> Hello.
[07:23:44] <Devu> http://www.jabber.org/web/Quickstart is supposed to contain a link to Live Journal, but it actually points to http://livehournal.com/, some domain grabber's site...

[10:47:49] HAL joins the room
[12:12:41] <stpeter> OK I created http://delicious.com/xmpp to bookmark items for the "XMPP Report" at http://blog.xmpp.org/
[12:13:01] <stpeter> BTW we have some weird RSS bug at blog.xmpp.org -- see http://www.xmpp.org/
[12:13:20] <stpeter> the draft entries show up on the site
[12:13:36] <stpeter> oh probably I need to tweak the SQL in my little PHP script
[12:13:41] stpeter investigates
[12:31:10] <stpeter> fixed
[12:31:28] <stpeter> needed to add "WHERE post_status='publish'" :)
[12:43:30] <stpeter> at some point we need to clean up all the behind-the-scenes PHP stuff
[12:43:38] <stpeter> I'll add that to the WebToDo
[14:34:54] <stpeter> did we ever figure out the 404 directory listing problem?
[14:42:37] <MattJ> We didn't, but I haven't looked at it myself
[14:43:02] <MattJ> I might not get the chance this evening, I have a couple of other things I'm working on
[14:43:34] <stpeter> ok
[14:51:26] <stpeter> MattJ: does your work have anything to do with that cool demo you showed me, perchance? ;-)
[14:51:44] <MattJ> It is one of the two things :)
[14:52:15] <stpeter> :)
[14:52:17] <stpeter> nice
[14:52:32] <stpeter> seems to be generating some excitement, but I won't say more naturally :)
[14:56:36] <MattJ> :)
[15:11:47] MattJ wonders how microblogging became such a hot topic
[15:15:01] <stpeter> MattJ: not sure, but it sure is on fire
[15:15:17] <stpeter> I don't know if people are really using this stuff, or if it merely has some buzz
[15:15:38] <MattJ> I think sometimes people forget that it is really just posting text to a service which redistributes that said text :)
[15:15:51] <stpeter> er yeah
[15:15:54] <stpeter> kind of simple, no?
[15:15:58] <MattJ> and well, we had jogger years before Twitter came along
[15:16:04] <stpeter> yeah, joggger!
[15:16:06] <stpeter> that was fun
[15:16:12] <MattJ> Definitely :)
[15:16:18] <MattJ> Any idea why it died out?
[15:16:49] <stpeter> http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-07-2002/jw-0726-im.html?page=5 :)
[15:16:56] <stpeter> that was 6 years ago
[15:17:12] <stpeter> MattJ: the person who maintained the code lost interest -- as so often happens
[15:17:50] <MattJ> jogger.jabber.org? :)
[15:17:56] <MattJ> I never saw that one in action
[15:18:26] <stpeter> yeah
[15:18:30] <stpeter> that was the original
[15:18:44] <MattJ> Resources
* Jabber Internet draft (RFC)
http://www.jabber.org/ietf/draft-miller-jabber-00.txt
[15:18:53] <MattJ> Amazing how it grew so fast :)
[15:19:04] <stpeter> heh
[16:22:43] Florian Jensen joins the room
[16:23:13] <Florian Jensen> evening guys
[16:23:19] <stpeter> hi Florian Jensen
[16:24:31] <Florian Jensen> time for some music
[16:24:35] <Florian Jensen> and then e-mail reading
[16:24:45] <stpeter> heh
[16:24:53] <stpeter> Florian Jensen: did I send you an invite for Spotify yet?
[16:24:59] <Florian Jensen> nope
[16:24:59] <stpeter> I have 9 left :)
[16:25:01] <Florian Jensen> whats that?
[16:25:06] <stpeter> streaming music service
[16:25:10] <stpeter> based in Sweden :)
[16:25:15] <stpeter> it's pretty cool
[16:25:26] <Florian Jensen> I'm a last.fm user :)
[16:25:28] <Florian Jensen> but sure
[16:25:32] <stpeter> oh you need to try this
[16:25:38] <MattJ> stpeter, are you in contact with them?
[16:25:51] <stpeter> MattJ: I know one of the founders, he was at FOSDEM 2007
[16:26:26] <MattJ> stpeter, I might email them and nag for user tune, or some way for an external client to get the "now playing" :)
[16:26:32] <MattJ> unless it exists already
[16:26:46] <stpeter> MattJ: I can poke Andreas about that, but feel free to do so as well
[16:27:11] <Florian Jensen> :)
[16:29:04] <stpeter> ok, 8 more invitations to go :)
[16:30:14] <Florian Jensen> starts off with some nice slow music :)
[16:30:15] <Florian Jensen> great
[16:30:29] Florian Jensen is in the Jack Johnson mood :)
[16:30:41] <Florian Jensen> and Spotify starts with Jason Mraz
[16:30:42] <Florian Jensen> great
[16:30:44] stpeter is listening some Neil Young
[16:31:00] <Florian Jensen> this is great
[16:31:05] <Florian Jensen> all music streamed and free?
[16:31:12] <stpeter> that's what everyone says :)
[16:31:12] <stpeter> yes
[16:31:14] <Florian Jensen> it's like Last.fm, but better
[16:31:17] <stpeter> right
[16:31:24] Florian Jensen likes :D
[16:31:28] <stpeter> :)
[16:31:46] <stpeter> blog about it and thank stpeter that he's so cool ;-)
[16:32:23] <Florian Jensen> wooow... this is soooo coool :D
[16:32:27] <stpeter> heehee
[16:32:36] <Florian Jensen> and I actually was sooo stupid to tag my 50GB of music for iTunes usage
[16:32:39] <Florian Jensen> damn ... :D
[16:32:45] <Florian Jensen> this is a lot cooler :)
[16:32:47] <stpeter> they have a lot more music now than they did when I started beta testing
[16:33:16] <Florian Jensen> the thing that is missing here compared to last.fm .. .the social stuff
[16:33:25] MattJ smiles
[16:33:26] <stpeter> I think that's on the way
[16:33:27] <Florian Jensen> and a really cool feature would be: Import Last.fm profile data
[16:33:31] <stpeter> true
[16:33:35] <Florian Jensen> as they have some open source standard
[16:33:42] <Florian Jensen> but i'll definetly blog about it :D
[16:33:53] <Florian Jensen> and even say that stpeter is cool :D
[16:33:58] <stpeter> haha
[16:34:00] <stpeter> :P
[16:34:01] <stpeter> j/k
[16:34:26] <Florian Jensen> the last.fm integration would be really cool though
[16:34:34] <Florian Jensen> as I have about 25k scrobbled songs
[16:34:44] <Florian Jensen> and they now have this Open Music sharing or whatever
[16:34:51] <stpeter> nod
[16:35:34] <Florian Jensen> wooow, they have A LOT
[16:36:17] <Florian Jensen> very nice :)
[16:37:05] <Florian Jensen> whats collaborative playlist?
[16:37:58] <Florian Jensen> it's also lightning fast
[16:38:12] <stpeter> yep
[16:38:17] <stpeter> not sure how they do it :)
[16:38:42] <stpeter> I haven't used any of the quasi-social features
[16:38:56] <Florian Jensen> ah right
[16:38:59] <Florian Jensen> but thanks a lot
[16:39:11] <Florian Jensen> this app rocks :)
[16:39:19] <stpeter> told ya!
[16:39:28] <Florian Jensen> and growl integration
[16:39:31] <Florian Jensen> it keeps on getting better:D
[16:41:22] <Florian Jensen> and cafe del mar !!!
[16:41:26] <Florian Jensen> this is great :D
[16:46:03] <stpeter> Florian Jensen: I created a delicious account for bookmarking XMPP Report stuff -- http://delicious.com/xmpp
[16:46:11] <stpeter> Florian Jensen: also, Jack Moffitt is going to help with that
[16:46:12] <Florian Jensen> ah cool
[16:46:19] <Florian Jensen> cool
[16:49:34] <Florian Jensen> whats actually the target audience of the XMPP Report?
[16:49:36] <Florian Jensen> anyone?
[16:49:40] <Florian Jensen> or a specifc group?
[16:50:31] <stpeter> I'd say developers who can't keep up with the flood of discussion lists, blog posts, and other news, but want a concise summary of what's happening with XMPP
[16:52:32] <MattJ> (me)
[16:53:15] <MattJ> The Lua community do a similar thing, they have a wiki page, which the community can update
[16:53:42] <MattJ> so for example, mailing list announcements, or new project releases get put there
[16:53:50] <MattJ> for people who are too busy to read the list :)
[16:54:04] <MattJ> and people volunteer to maintain the page for week/month X
[16:54:59] <stpeter> MattJ: we're thinking that this will be a regular blog post at blog.xmpp.org
[16:55:04] <Florian Jensen> right
[16:55:31] <Florian Jensen> MattJ: do you also have Spotify?
[16:55:48] <MattJ> Florian Jensen, I do, but have had limited time to play with it :)
[16:55:52] <Florian Jensen> ah
[16:56:01] <MattJ> I'm MattJ iirc
[16:56:13] <Florian Jensen> I want to know what the shared playlist does
[16:56:14] <Florian Jensen> spotify:user:flosoft:playlist:3dd65gH0SbHJrNBLbAKlmN
[16:56:20] <Florian Jensen> thats a shared one
[16:56:33] <Florian Jensen> well ... collaborative
[16:57:24] <Florian Jensen> or http version: http://open.spotify.com/user/flosoft/playlist/3dd65gH0SbHJrNBLbAKlmN
[17:06:10] stpeter needs to get back to recording but is always too busy with work...
[17:06:33] <Florian Jensen> heh
[17:28:57] MattJ leaves the room
[17:31:29] stpeter leaves the room
[18:36:02] Florian Jensen leaves the room: Computer went to sleep
[20:49:44] wei joins the room
[21:55:52] wei leaves the room
