[15:05:09] <MattJ> It's called a tab :)
[15:05:18] <bbodio> it's used instead of 5-10 spaces
[15:05:25] <MattJ> \t in most languages
[15:05:36] <bbodio> aa
[15:05:41] <MattJ> I think ASCII 8, though I may have that completely wrong
[15:05:44] <bbodio> i'll try :-)
[15:05:46] <vorner> or, char number 7 I hope
[15:05:59] <vorner> (but that may be bell, too)
[15:06:19] <MattJ> Ah, I think we're both wrong
[15:06:23] <MattJ> It seems to be 9 :P

[17:12:02] <bbodio> :-)
[17:15:35] <Solarius> :)
[17:17:56] <bbodio> it would be good to have a room on jabber.org associated with dotnet
[17:24:44] <bbodio> but i'm afraid it will be empty

[20:00:30] <sq89> another interesting "google talk + aim = evil" post: http://www.pthree.org/2007/12/08/google-is-now-officially-evil/
[20:27:06] <MattJ> Hmm
[20:29:55] <sq89> so, what's your opinion? :-)
[20:32:37] <MattJ> AIM is Evil
[20:32:41] <MattJ> Jury is still out on Google :)
[20:33:43] <MattJ> Closed networks are evil
[20:33:52] <MattJ> I don't think multi-protocol clients are evil
[20:34:05] <duck> personally, I think the GTalk + AIM deal will be positive for jabber in the long run
[20:34:20] <michael> I would be content as long as federation capability is maintained
[20:34:36] <MattJ> michael, do you use Google?
[20:34:42] <sq89> google actively states that this is not (yet) federation
[20:35:03] <michael> MattJ: I've a few gtalk users in my Roster
[20:35:12] <duck> google is pushing jabber first, aim second, so people that are using Gtalk for AIM are probably going to find themselves using jabber more than a different multi-protocol client
[20:35:30] <MattJ> and that is not a bad thing
[20:35:57] <MattJ> Make multi-protocol clients, and may the best protocol win
[20:36:36] <sq89> by the way, do you think this would relate to the google deal? http://www.topcoder.com/tc?module=Static&d1=dev&d2=assembly&d3=det_aolXmppGateway <http://www.topcoder.com/tc?module=Static&d1=dev&d2=assembly&d3=det_aolXmppGateway>
[20:37:09] <sq89> they call it an 'enterprise system', so it's probably for their enterprise offering...
[20:37:26] <MattJ> If you killed all multi-protocol clients, you are hindering the flow of users into Jabber, thanks to the network effect
[20:38:23] <sq89> I think the people using multiprotocol clients are mostly people who are interested enough in technology to try jabber anyway
[20:38:49] <sq89> the non-interested people just download windows live messenger, or see chat appear in gmail and like that
[20:42:22] <michael> It would be nicer to provide access to these networks without requiring users to have anything other than an XMPP account. Such as by the SIP backdoors? ... http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/office/livecomm/library/updatesp1/lcsusp_7.mspx
[20:43:49] <michael> Now I just need to find the ToS that forbids using it for XMPP interconnection ... :-)
[20:55:49] sq89 leaves the room
[21:09:54] michael leaves the room
[22:12:39] MattJ leaves the room

[23:45:27] sjr leaves the room: Computer went to sleep
