[08:48:32] <dwd> A customer of ours has asked about an HTTP API into M-Link, and we've a few other use-cases for this kind of thing - is there any interest in a simple REST-ish API XEP?

[08:50:24] <dwd> No, more like the HTTP APIs that Openfire supports - being able to include people's presence in web pages, for instance.

[08:53:44] <dwd> It occured to me that we could also include the browser id verifier in the API - I think such a thing is pretty trivial.

[08:55:26] <Alex> Openfire is like big brother, when webstatus is enabled you can get any status when you know the jids
[08:55:27] <dwd> Yes; some use-cases need "global" access to presence; others need a securely established source jid.

[08:56:39] <dwd> I was thinking we could build a token based authentication - so you'd enable your jid for web access and get a token back to pass into the API to establish your identity.

[09:01:17] <dwd> There's suggestions for SASL over HTTP, but I think they all failed to gain any traction at all.
