[09:29:57] <borissh> Is there a way I could use an ejabbered behind NAT to interconnect with jabber network ?
[09:31:28] <borissh> what I wish to have ejabbered running on a private ip, message from jabber.org go in and out my server
[10:00:20] <Alex> for server to server (s2s) communication other servers need to be able to connect to your machine. This does not work without port forwarding when you are behind NAT
[10:02:42] <borissh> Alex, my problem is that the configuration must forbid authntication from outside IPs (only internal ips are allowed) but S2S to be able to work ) I could add some port forwarding but the then I don't know how to block the abuility to register and snoop
[10:04:08] <Alex> borissh: no chance without an open port for federation
[10:04:35] <Alex> but s2s runs by default on another port than c2s
[10:05:03] <Alex> and on your server you can configure white and blacklists for s2s
[10:05:10] <borissh> Oh I though that is the same port (5269)
[10:05:21] <Alex> c2s is 5222
[10:05:45] <borissh> c2s == client to server correct ?
[10:05:59] <Alex> correct
[10:07:24] <borissh> nice .. I may have a working jabber on my system :)
[10:08:02] <Alex> (Y)
[10:08:04] <borissh> so I would only need to add a DNS srv and port 5269 correct ?
[10:09:53] <Alex> yes SRV records are required according to the specs, but if your hostname is the same as your xmpp domain if works with most software. But I guess they are not the same.
[10:14:06] <borissh> hmm .. I intened to have subdomain.domain.tld and in xmpp user@domain.tld or user@subdomain.domain.tld (preffered to have only user@domain.tld)
[10:14:39] <borissh> for the JID
[10:16:33] <Alex> ya, this is what srv records are for
[10:17:23] <Alex> if you xmpp domain is domain.tld, and the server gets reached over teh host xmpp.domain.tld just setup a srv records for this
[10:19:26] <Alex> like MX records in Email

[16:15:32] <adfenohuvlov> Hello...
[16:15:43] <Kev_> Hello.
[16:16:54] <adfenohuvlov> Do you know someone which I can look for help. I'm having issues adding my friends to my contact list.
[16:17:52] <adfenohuvlov> *for help? I'm having* (sorry) :D
[16:19:54] * aRyo left the chat.
[16:20:00] * aRyo joined the chat.
[16:20:06] <Kev_> adfenohuvlov: On jabber.org?
[16:20:17] <adfenohuvlov> Yes.
[16:20:41] <adfenohuvlov> I can explain better if you wish.
[16:20:49] <Kev_> Yes please.
[16:22:16] * nnxx664 joined the chat.
[16:22:53] <adfenohuvlov> Ok... Some days ago I've convinced my friend to create an account on Jabber.org, so he did, and since I was in his house, I've also asked him to add me so that I could accept his invititation when returning home.
[16:23:04] * nnxx664 left the chat.
[16:23:51] <adfenohuvlov> So I logged in using my account and: no invitation. I can confirn it was sent because I've added myself on his friends list.
[16:24:16] <adfenohuvlov> So I decided to do some tests.
[16:25:32] <adfenohuvlov> So I decided to test with my two Jabber IDs, one from my mail box in Riseup.net and, of course, this one.
[16:25:37] * tarek.tarek686 joined the chat.
[16:25:38] * tarek.tarek686 left the chat.
[16:26:27] * tarek.tarek686 joined the chat.
[16:26:30] <adfenohuvlov> Tried to add the Riseup.net JID in the Jabber.org friends list, no invitation, and vice versa.
[16:27:06] <tarek.tarek686> هاي
[16:27:21] <adfenohuvlov> So I decided to test the instant messaging feature... and it worked, but both appear to be disconnected or not authorized to each other.
[16:27:50] <adfenohuvlov> I also tried with other clients, no luck.
[16:28:22] <Kev_> OK, can you pastebin the XML traces for both clients please?
[16:28:48] * tarek.tarek686 left the chat.
[16:29:31] <adfenohuvlov> Sorry, do you mean the messages I get in the XMPP console when trying to add both accounts to both friend lists?
[16:30:53] * stoil89 joined the chat.
[16:31:28] <Kev_> Yes.
[16:31:41] <Kev_> Starting with neither of them in each other's roster.
[16:31:51] <adfenohuvlov> Hmmm... Ok, wait a little...
[16:31:58] <Kev_> And also which client you're using.
[16:32:10] * stoil89 left the chat.
[16:32:47] <adfenohuvlov> I'm using Pidgin 2.7.3 on GNU+Linux Debian Squeeze.
[16:33:54] <Kev_> I've just tested this between my account on jabber.org and my personal server and it worked fine.
[16:36:07] * aRyo left the chat.
[16:36:13] * aRyo joined the chat.
[16:36:22] <adfenohuvlov> This is de first one: http://pastebin.com/RV6awXjU I'll prepare the last one.
[16:36:29] <adfenohuvlov> *is the first*
[16:38:42] <adfenohuvlov> The last paste: http://pastebin.com/vic0Nz8T
[16:39:11] <Kev_> That's not of the same period, is it?
[16:40:12] <adfenohuvlov> Well... I actually did it right now... As I know the result is the same before and now.
[16:40:43] * KiDo joined the chat.
[16:40:49] <Kev_> adfenohuvlov: So that's the full XML from both clients starting at the same moment and ending at the same moment?
[16:42:29] <adfenohuvlov> Hmmm... Sorry... I thought you would need just the result shown just when adding the accounts to each roster.
[16:42:45] <Kev_> I need to see what account2 is receiving when account1 sends the request.
[16:43:04] <Kev_> I do notice that your second server seems to have some bug or other that's rejecting your roster change.
[16:43:34] <Kev_> <error code='500' type='wait'> <internal-server-error xmlns='urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:xmpp-stanzas'/> </error>
[16:43:37] <Kev_> No idea what'd cause that.
[16:44:42] <adfenohuvlov> Ah... Strange... Well... This time I'll keep an eye on the roster of the account being added. Sorry.
[16:44:57] <Kev_> And remember to clear out the contacts from each other's rosters first :)
[16:45:10] <adfenohuvlov> Ok. Thank you. :D
[16:45:51] <adfenohuvlov> Right now I'm adding my Riseup.net ID to my Jabber.org roster.
[16:49:56] <adfenohuvlov> The first line of this paste describes itself: http://pastebin.com/MpvZj6Am
[16:51:09] <Kev_> Fun.
[16:51:15] <adfenohuvlov> Now I'll try the other roster. Adding my Jabber.org ID to my Riseup.net roster.
[16:54:15] <adfenohuvlov> Actually, there's no output from the console of my Jabber.org ID when added to the Riseup.net roster.
[16:55:22] <adfenohuvlov> And... As I said before... None received an invitation.
[16:56:46] <Kev_> Yep. So why is this not going across, I wonder.
[16:56:51] <Kev_> But messages transfer OK?
[16:57:48] <adfenohuvlov> Yes... Tested twice again right now.
[17:00:49] <adfenohuvlov> Is it safe to add my Jabber.org ID to my Jabber.org roster?
[17:00:59] <Kev_> It's a bit late now if it isn't, isn't it? :p
[17:01:35] <adfenohuvlov> Well... Just for testing purposes... Sorry. :)
[17:01:41] <Kev_> But yes, that's fine.
[17:02:34] <adfenohuvlov> And so I did with my Jabber.org ID, and guess what? It appears online to itself.
[17:02:50] <Kev_> Yes, it would.
[17:03:11] <adfenohuvlov> I'll try this with my Riseup.net ID.
[17:05:10] <adfenohuvlov> Also worked with the Riseup.net ID.
[17:06:14] <adfenohuvlov> I remember
[17:07:29] <adfenohuvlov> ... three months ago when I tried to add my Jabber.org ID to my Riseup.net roster, using both Pidgin and JWChat, one at a time, for testing purposes...
[17:08:06] <adfenohuvlov> ... and those tests actually worked well... Both IDs were appearing online for both rosters.
