[11:49:07] <truman28065> well im new to jabber and what i am trying to do is incorprate jabber to work with my phpbb forum and i created a jabber account and then was told i needed to bascially have it hosted on my computer and i have been messing with the exodus client but can not get it to work.... and when i input the 12jabber.com server into my phpbb board it just says error #2 unable to connecct

[11:52:05] <naw> phpbb will connect to that account, you don't really need to host a jabber server
[11:52:30] <naw> and after the creation of the acount you shouldn't need to use a jabber client
[11:54:36] <naw> unless, of course, you want to be able to receive the notifications via jabber
[11:55:53] <naw> of course it will look better to use your own jabber server, then users will receive notifications from a bot with an addres @yourforum.com insted @12jabber

[14:37:53] <truman28065> yeah there must be a problem within the phpbb forum or a bug they havent worked out i have phpbb v 3.07 pl anyways my configuration in there is as follows Server: 12jabber.com Jabber port:5222 jabber username i have tried both ways for this i have tried jason102178 which is my username and i have tried jason102178@jabber.org use SSL: NO Jabber packet size:20 and everytime i hit save for the settings i get this error Could not connect to Jabber server. Error: open_socket() - Connection timed out Error: connect() #2

[14:39:09] <Kev> Although it wouldn't help you in this case, because it's telling you the server's down, if you've registered with 12jabber.com, your JID is jason102178@jabber12.com, not @jabber.org

[14:40:57] <truman28065> i just went to jabber.org to register for username and password and was told we could choose from a list of active servers and that it didnt matter which one we choose

[14:47:07] <truman28065> oh this is so confuesing i unserstand how email works ect.... i dont know if u have tried it or not but there is no jabber12.com website to register it and if i go 12jabber.com there is no registration area but yet when you go to http://www.jabberes.org/servers/ its listed as an active server right now
